ALS Geometric Software S.A. is an independent and privately owned software development company, founded in 1993 and based in Athens, Greece. ALS focuses on the development of innovative software components for Computer Aided Design and Engineering (CAD/CAE), based on groundbreaking internal mathematical research in the field of non-linear equation systems.
ALS was founded by a small group of scientists and engineers with an ambitious research and development plan based on existing mathematical research and software development expertise, aiming to develop superior software technology to address well-known practical needs in the mechanical Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) markets.
ALS aims to provide CAD/CAE software solutions that will allow manufacturers to improve the quality of their products and reduce the time and cost of their production cycle, by offering new, enhanced and extended capabilities in key aspects of design, engineering simulation/optimisation and digital prototyping/manufacturing.
ALS is also looking into a vast range of further application areas outside CAD, as non-linear equation and partial differential equation solving lies at the heart of several engineering fields. Computer animation (keyframing, inverse kinematics, physically-based animation, face, skin and clothes simulation with point-spring models etc.), molecular biology (molecular graphics, molecular dynamics), scientific computation software, financial engineering etc. represent important application areas for non-linear solving technology. ALS is already studying these applications and plans to explore all of the corresponding markets, even though current focus is on the CAD/CAE market.
The ALS software development team includes highly qualified software engineers, with more than 15 years of individual experience in the development of top quality, high complexity and performance software, in the most competitive industrial environments worldwide.
The management team of ALS consists of:
Tassos was born in Athens, Greece. He was awarded the Holigrave Scholarship from Imperial College (University of London, UK), where he obtained a MEng in Software Engineering, ranking first in the final year exams and graduating with First Class Honours. He is a founding member and Managing Director of ALS Geometric Software S.A. Before ALS he served as Vice President and Informatics and Industrial Automation Director of Viotak S.A.
Vasilis was born in Tripoli, Greece. He holds a BSc in Computer Science with First Class Honours from Imperial College (University of London, UK), an MSc in Computer Science from Rutgers University, New Jersey and a PhD in Computer Science (Discrete and Computational Geometry) from the Courant Institute of New York University. He has received various academic awards (IBM fellow for the years 1991-1993, Annual Harold Grad Prize in 1992, Fabri Memorial Prize in 1994) and has several scientific journal publications. He was a post-doctoral research fellow at Purdue University and the Max Plank Institute in Germany. He is a founding member and Research Director of ALS Geometric Software S.A.
Stephanos was born in Athens, Greece. He holds a BEng in Information Systems Engineering with First Class Honours and a MSc in Engineering and Physical Sciences in Medicine with Distinction both from Imperial College (University of London, UK), a Masters of Science in Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, MD, US, and a PhD from the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is a founding member and Software Development Manager of ALS Geometric Software S.A. In the past he has worked in the industry as a software analyst and developer and has been involved in several EU funded R&D projects. Stephanos is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and the IEEE.
ALS is always on the lookout for experienced engineers and scientists with background in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, or physical sciences, who would be interested in working on exciting projects with significant prospects.
Areas in which we are currently considering applications include software design and development, code testing and quality assurance, and development of technical documentation.
